| International Outreach Committee Launched |
|---|
|
|
|---|
I am pleased to announce the creation of the SNO International Outreach Committee. This committee is an effort by SNO to facilitate neuro-oncology activities and society membership on an international level, with a particular emphasis on outreach efforts in developing countries.
The committee is currently seeking volunteers with contacts in or knowledge of the geographic regions listed below. Committee members will be tasked with fostering collaborative relationships with local oncology societies, leading neuro-oncologists, and/or ministries of health from their geographic region.
Such collaborations might take the form of availing international neuro-oncologists with educational materials via the SNO or other Web sites, including sites housing taped lectures, teaching files, and syllabi from lectures presented at SNO meetings, or sites of international libraries, and extending the availability of Neuro-Oncology. Ultimately, it is hoped that these initiatives will lead to continuing medical education activities organized through SNO and to increasing international membership.
The geographic regions of particular interest are as follows:
The SNO Office will liaise with committee members and provide logistical support in their outreach efforts.
I do hope you will consider joining the International Outreach Committee, as I believe it is an opportunity not only to assist our international colleagues, but also to make a lasting contribution to the field of neuro-oncology. To join, please contact Executive Director Chas Haynes in the SNO Office (e-mail: chas{at}soc-neuro-onc.org).
Yours truly,
Abhijit Guha

The first interview in the new series is a discussion with Dr. Darell Bigner, in which we discuss his editorship of this journal and his work at the Duke University Brain Tumor Center.
The SNO Web site also includes a Neuro-Oncology Center Directoryakin to a yellow pages of brain tumor centers. Each center is invited to submit its information to this directory to showcase its clinical and research enterprises. These listings are searchable by the public as well as your colleagues and are intended to help geographic referrals and the development of collaborations. Please click on the "Center Directory" link at the top of the page, and then go to "Add a Listing."
For comments or concerns, please contact Oliver Bögler (webmaster{at}soc-neuro-onc.org).
