We are pleased to report that Neuro-Oncology has received an ISI Impact Factor of 4.150 by Thomson ISI's Journal Citation Reports. As part of an upward trend (see chart), this impact factor firmly establishes Neuro-Oncology as one of the top journals in its field and reflects its reputation as a preferred medium for publishing studies in basic, translational, and clinical neuro-oncology.
The new ISI rating places Neuro-Oncology 15th among 146 ranked clinical neurology journals and 30th among 123 ranked oncology journals. In comparison, Springer's Journal of Neuro-Oncology earned an ISI Impact Factor of 2.325 for 2005 (51st in clinical neurology, 64th in oncology). The new rating also compares well with related journals in the ISI subject categories of oncology (Cancer Research, 7.616; Neoplasia, 3.850) and clinical neurology (Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology, 4.471; Brain Pathology, 4.041; Neurosurgery, 2.587; Journal of Neurosurgery, 2.446).
The rising impact factor reflects the increasing number of references to articles published in Neuro-Oncology. Thus we want to remind individuals engaged in neuro-oncology research and clinical practice to continue to cite published reports from Neuro-Oncology in their submitted manuscripts in order to keep our impact factor as high as possible.
