Announcement is made of the position of Editor in Chief of Neuro-Oncology. The Editor in Chief ensures high scientific standards and balance in the journal's contents, which include basic, translational, and clinical science, consistent with the goals of the Society for Neuro-Oncology. The Editor also determines journal policy and long-range goals in consultation with SNO and the journal's Editorial Board. The ideal candidate is a mature senior scientist who holds M.D. and Ph.D. degrees or the equivalent and has extensive experience in the field of neurooncology, with an international reputation for his or her own work. The candidate for this position should be a seasoned reviewer of manuscripts and should have served on multiple editorial boards of other oncology and neuroscience journals. Administrative experience, including financial management of complex projects, is essential. The Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF) is soliciting grant applications for the calendar year 2006. Grant sums will be awarded for up to a two-year period, at a maximum of up to $25,000 per year. CBTF accepts grant applications from everywhere in the greater United States. Grant applications may be submitted from researchers who have not received funding from the NIH. All proposed studies must have the approval of the proposing institution's Institutional Review Board (if appropriate) at the time of funding. Further details on the evaluation criteria, grant application requirements, and grant submission and award are available at the CBTF Web site (www.childhoodbraintumor.org). Grants applications must be received before or on the deadline date of Friday, April 14, 2006.

The Brain Tumor Society is awarding grants to fund basic scientific and translational research directed at finding a cure for brain tumors. One-year $100,000 grants and two-year $200,000 grants are available in the United States and Canada. Grants are awarded annually at a maximum of $100,000 per year and may be used for start-up projects or supplementary funding. Funds cannot be used for indirect costs, and clinical projects will not be funded. The application deadline is March 16, 2006. Application packets are available at the BTS Web site (www.tbts.org).

Twelfth Annual Neuro-Oncology/Blood-Brain Barrier Consortium Meeting March 23-25, 2006, Sunriver Resort, Bend, Oregon
The Twelfth Annual Neuro-Oncology/Blood-Brain Barrier Consortium Meeting will be held March 23-25, 2006, at Sunriver Resort near Bend, Oregon. Sunriver is a four-diamond resort located in the high desert of Central Oregon, near the Deschutes wilderness area and approximately 18 miles from Mt. Bachelor. The focus of the meeting will be translational research in neuro-oncology and/or the blood-brain barrier. The meeting is partially funded by an R13 meeting grant from the NCI, NINDS and NIDCD.

Seventh Congress of the European Association for Neurooncology September 14-19, 2006, Vienna, Austria
The seventh congress of the EANO will take place at the historic Hofburg Palace (www.hofburg.com), one of Vienna's finest congress centers. The meeting will include, in addition to the main program, a teaching course and a number of meet-the-expert sessions covering many aspects of the wide field of neuro-oncology. Deadlines are as follows: abstract submission, February 28, 2006; early registration, May 31, 2006; and late registration, August 31, 2006. The local organizer is Prim. Univ.
